⚽️ | Johnville (Youths) 1-1 Kilbarry Rangers

The lads got their first test of pre season playing a talented Johnville youth side. We took an early lead with Cian Kervicks strike from the edge of the box which found its way into the net. Not to long later Johnville equalised due to an error in defence, it was a frustrating scrappy game for both sides at times that never got going. We had two late chances to win it with Cian Kervick shot being brilliantly saved by the feet of the keeper and Liam Burke hitting the post but the game ended in a draw. Not our best performance but lessons were learned for going forward.

⚽️ | Kilbarry Rangers 3-3 Waterford Crystal (2B) After a good start from Waterford Crystal made it 1-0 after we were caught out of position to which they took full advantage of. Cian Kervick had a good chance when he rounded the keeper but he couldn’t convert and neither could Chris Smyth. Waterford Crystal made it 2-0 with a well worked move down the right hand side and a good ball in was expertly headed in. We fought back though and Ben Hogan was brilliantly played through by Peter Grogan and he slipped in under the keeper to half the deficit. Ben Peacock won a penalty in the second half after some trickery and Ben Hogan expertly converted to level the game. Waterford Crystal regained the lead with a long range strike for 3-2 bit just minutes later Liam Burke flicked the ball through for Ben Peacock who made no mistake to level it for 3-3. Both teams had chances for a winner but it ended all square and a good work out for both sides especially for us going up against a higher level team than we are used to playing against.

⚽️| St Paul’s (2A) 2-0 Kilbarry Rangers After a good performance against 2B opposition Waterford Crystal we decided we’d try and challenge a team up another division. It was a tough game but some promising signs overall. Cian Kervick had a goal ruled out for offside which looked very tight. But ultimately two goals at the end of each half saw the home side grab the win but some encouraging performances were put in. A good game in the Parish that both teams would probably be happy with ahead of the upcoming season.

Thanks to all those at the three clubs mentioned above who helped arrange the friendlies and best of luck to them for the season ahead.

Full steam ahead for us in our first league game vs Johnville on Thursday August 20th at 7pm.
