Our first home which was very long awaited took place on Saturday where a very tough Seaview Celtic were the visitors who went into the game in 3rd place. The game started with a minutes silence to commemorate the passing of Marcella O’Brien and from everyone at our club we’d like to pass our condolences to Sean and Seaview Celtic.

Playing this game in our old and traditional yellow strip due to a kit clash we started the game well having all the ball but failing to capitalise on our possession. We were caught out minutes later with a through ball and Tom gave away a penalty after a collision which was converted for 1-0 against the run of play.

It was then up to us to try get level and after knocking on the door a few times we did get that equaliser when Ben Peacock scuffed effort somehow found the net in a slightly fortuitous way. 1-1.

If the equaliser had a bit of good luck about then the second goal certainly didn’t need any fortune after a corner was cleared outside the box Dan Lye controlled the ball well and struck a rocket which went through all the bodies and into the top corner to give us the lead for 2-1. A goal of the season contender for certain which have us a much deserved lead.

We had chances to give ourselves a slightly more comfortable two goal cushion before the break including a great run from Harry Ruddle but his finish just went wide of the post. As the second half resumed Seaview came into it more having a nice spell and a few chances whilst we were still carving our chances at the other end but failing to convert.

Seaview did get an equaliser when their striker latched onto a ball and brilliantly finished into the far corner, there were appeals for offside but they never came and we had to regroup and go again.

We went back into the lead with a huge strike of luck when Ben Hogans ball into the box took a deflection off a Seaview head and went in for an OG for 3-2.

Again we had chances to kill it most notably Sam Hogan doing really well to wiggle into the box but his well struck shot was well saved by the keeper and unfortunately these missed chances would come back to bite us as in stoppage time as Seaview bundled in a corner to level the game once more which in the end robbed us of what would’ve been three well deserved points but we failed to convert our chances and conceded some poor goals at the other end. So in the end the points were shared despite playing some lovely football all through the game. it was just one of those days were the points slipped away against a good Seaview team, to play so well against a team like Seaview who were third going into the game and unbeaten and then be disappointed to only draw shows how far we have come but the frustrations are understandable as the lads are playing out of their skin right now but maybe not getting what they fully deserve. Hopefully we can bounce back against St Saviours next week when we welcome them to the RSC.
