We started very well and took a deserved lead when Danny Moore picked up the ball and glided into the box and his powerful low shot squirmed underneath the keeper and just over the line for 1-0. 2 goals in 3 games for the new signing!

We nearly had a second not long later, great play down the right wing and a good pull back to the edge of the box had Jamie Regan running onto it but his powerful effort was saved terrifically by the Mooncoin keeper.

We did get the second goal not long later however, a smart piece of play caught out the Mooncoin defence and a ball across the box from Conor Hennessy was met by Glen Kavanagh who scored for the second week running.

It was important we started the second half strong and that we did and we were astounded not to have been 3-0 up after a flurry of early chances in the early period of the half. Conor Hennessy made a terrific run and his smart finish just went narrowly past the far post.

Jack Quinn also had a chance but couldn’t convert after a goalmouth scramble.

The third goal finally did come when good play once again down the right wing and a smart cross to the back post had Glen Kavanagh waiting alone and he converted with a smart volley into the ground and into the net for 3-0. Third of the season for Glen and all three have come in the last two games. Brilliant to see last years top scorer starting to find his shooting boots.

We had other chances toward the end for a fourth but the Mooncoin keeper was in inspired form but we also comfortably saw out our first clean sheet of the season which was well overdue, hopefully it can be the first of many!

So 6 wins from 7, a great start to the season as we approach the halfway mark of the league. The boys are in with a massive opportunity to have a good season once the stay professional, respectful and motivated. Training has been to a high standard all season and once we keep that up we can hopefully continue to gather momentum. It’s a bit of a break for us now as we face two free weekends in a row so a good opportunity for the guys to get good training sessions in as the second half of the season fast approaches.
