The game started with a minutes silence for the late Roy Butler which was held impeccably by both teams.

The game was kindly sponsored by ex player Joe Fitzpatrick. Thanks so much for your support Joe!

The game itself struggled to get going in truth, it was quite tough to break Seaview down for the most of the game. Ethan Halloran had a glorious chance after weaving through a few challenges but he dragged his shot wide. Chances also came for Daniel Mihalache but we just couldn’t convert.

In the second half we also created some good chances. Jamie Robinson made a good run but his shot was well saved by the Seaview keeper to deny us. A free kick that was flicked on was brilliantly met by Conor Houlihan but his effort was met with an incredible save. We still have no clue how that didn’t go in. Our last chance came when some brilliant play got Conor Purcell in down the left but he couldn’t connect with the shot well enough to trouble the keeper much.
Seaview had a late chance to win it when the ball fell invitingly to their substitute striker on the edge of the box and he hit a very clean effort which hit the post. One of the few times Seaview troubled us in the game nearly lost it for us.
All in all a frustrating day at the office. It wasn’t a great game but there was some good play from us at times but we just couldn’t break Seaview down the majority of the time and when we did we struggled to finish. Work to be done but 7 points from 9 is a good return still and is actually more points than we accumulated in all of the 2019/20 season when we made our return to Waterford football before covid curtailed the season so its evident we’ve come on leaps and bounds over this time. Also we can be very happy to keep a clean sheet, still though work to be done and hopefully we can target another win when we play Waterford Crystal this Sunday at 11am in the RSC.
