There was decent crowd who came out on this nice evening to watch this highly anticipated game. Going into the game Ferrybank were in 1st and we found ourselves in 3rd only separated by goal difference.

We made a good start and played at a good intensity and we got a deserved lead soon later. Conor Purcell‘s corner was met by the head of Peter Grogan and his header creeped into the bottom corner to give us a early lead. 1-0 Kilbarry.

For 30 minutes we were excellent playing lovely football and dictating the game but Ferrybank slowly grew into the game and had a nice spell from 30-45. And they got themselves an equaliser, a tricky run from the right was not dealt with and a left footed shot crept into the bottom right corner to level the game at 1-1. Disappointing goal to concede in truth.

We came out with a great attitude and work rate in the second half and we’re back to playing the football we did in the first 30 minutes. And we retook the lead after a ball into the box was met by the head of Peter Grogan who headed it across goal excellently and Ben Hogan managed to stab it home and put us 2-1 in the lead. Brilliant work from Peter again who had an incredible game and a lovely poachers goal from Ben Hogan who was also fantastic throughout. A deserved lead!

And the crucial killer goal came toward the end of the game when substitute Glen Kavanagh played an incredible pass that was Fabregas esque which deceived the last Ferrybank defender and running on to it was Jamie Robinson who expertly finished to spark fantastic celebrations throughout. 3-1!

We managed the end of the game well and dealt with everything, heroic defending, fantastic play in the middle and up top and Tom always being quick off his line to deal with the Ferrybank long balls which sealed a massive three points.

So that win has us top of the table for now which is brilliant but the squad are under no illusions that despite the fantastic win there’s a long way to go and a lot of hard work to do, while it looks nice the table means nothing right now in truth but we’re so proud of everyone for the effort and desire that was put in last night which was easily the best Kilbarry performance since reforming in 2019. Credit to Ferrybank who have a great team and are well on the way to being successful. It was a great battle which was a great advert for local football that was well reffed and was watched by a good crowd on a nice evening. Next fixture for us is still to be announced and will be on the clubs pages when released.
