Match Report Dungarvan Celtic 2-3 Kilbarry Rangers We reckon it’s fair to say this was by far the most dramatic game we’ve played all season! It was a dream start for Dungarvan in only the second minute, a free kick at an awkward angle was absolutely buried in the top corner and you’re unlikely to see a better strike all season, simply a world class effort. 1-0 Dungarvan. We responded really well straight from the kick off when Liam Burke played Ben Peacock through, he turned and swiveled past defender after defender but couldn’t finish. And just seconds later he was in again but he placed his effort past the post. The second half started just like the first and was met with a world class strike, a Dungarvan corner fell back out to the taker and he placed it in to the far top corner similarly to the first goal to give Dungravan some breathing space. 2-0 But it was far from over yet, the lads responded really well and Ben Peacocks long range effort deceived the keeper and looped over his head into the roof of the net to pull one back. All of a sudden it was 2-1. And a crucial equalizer wasn’t to long in coming and that man again Ben Peacock got in behind and expertly placed his finish into the far corner and we were level for 2-2! But wait, there was more drama to come. Dungarvan won a penalty and it would have been a cruel blow to the lads for the shift they put in, however the penalty was blasted over the bar and we were out of jail. And then the winning goal came as super sub Danny Milhalache who made a fantastic difference when he was sprung from the bench ghosted in behind the defence and ever so calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner for a crucial late lead. 3-2 Kilbarry! There was nearly a fourth when we caught Dungarvan at the back and Sam Hogan’s ball went to Danny again but he just couldn’t convert on this occasion. Not that it mattered though as the lads calmly saw the game out and the final whistle blew for a massive 3 points for the lads! This win has been coming for a while to be honest, on the day anything could have happened and a bit of luck may have seen the game swing the way of the hosts but so often have we played teams this season in an even enough battle and have ended up losing due to that bit of luck going against us. We had that clinical edge today and everyone who started and came on gave 110%. We were full value for the win and what made it more impressive is we had to play a few guys out of position due to other’s work commitments but they all adapted well and gave everything, this is only the start we hope. To show the strength of character to come from 2 goals down and win is an incredible testament to the lads commitment to this club, well done guys. No game next weekend but we will update in due course when our next fixture comes. Come on Kilbarry!
