It was a bad day at the office as we exited the cup. A tough game for both teams to play football in as very windy conditions affected the game. Despite a good start Villa took the lead with a terrific strike from the edge of the box which crashed in off the crossbar. Villa doubled the lead when their striker ghosted in and placed the ball past Tom for 2-0, after this Tom felt unwell and Sean Duggan fearlessly stepped up in his place to take the goalkeeper spot. We had chances to pull the game back through the second half and Alex Casey got in behind and placed the ball in the bottom corner to half the deficit. Despite a further late push we couldn’t put the game to penalties and we exit the cup. All in all a disappointing day after our recent up turn in league form, Villa were the better team along with the more clinical and deservingly go into the next round, well done to them and good luck to them in the next round. One last special mention for Sean Duggan stepping up to the plate to go in goal for us. We will look to put the disappointment behind us next week when we return to league action against Mooncoin Celtic in the RSC.
